Near Semester’s End
December 4, 2007
Time is closing in now and classes at Northeast Alabama Community College are kicking into high gear. Check off’s and finnals are coming and it is time to see how much I really learned this semester. Study time has increased dramatically but I still got to enjoy myself over the weekend. Pictures shown were from a group of fearless turkey the day after thanksgiving( smart birds ) and from just playing around with Kim.

Weekend in the Wild
November 19, 2007
Northeast Alabama Community College finnally let us out on fall break, so I took this weekend to spend some time in the woods. Since Saturday was opening day of gun season for deer, I also brought along my newly “zeroed” in 30-30 caliber Rifle. When I left the house at 5:15am my mother told me “Zach, we need some deer meat in the freezer so don’t just wait on a buck.” Not wanting to dissapoint her I left the house and pulled in at my hunting location, and that was when the fun started.
I walked into the woods to my prime location, still dark outside, I collected a few branches and put them around the spot I had chosen to break up my body so I would not be as visible. I then sat down in the chair I had brought and sat still, just waiting for the sun to come up so I could take in my surroundings. Just as dawn was breaking and Owl glided through the woods about 30 yards away from me, gracefully flying through the air without making a single sound. It was just after that moment at 6:00am that I realized that I was starting to get cold….that meant I was underdressed….. Big Mistake! I held myself tight and squezed every muscle in my body to stay warm and not shake to much but I was chilled to the bone. Trying to concentrate on my surroundings, I suddenly heard a sound to my left. As I slowly turned my head, I saw a average sized doe slowly coming out of the thicket I was near. I raised my gun and was waiting for a chance at a clean shot when I heard something else behind it, so I lowered my gun and waited to see what else was comming. Whatever it was they were all comming straight for me! With my heart racing I finnally saw what was behing it, not 1 but 2 small fawns, one still had spots on it. As much as I love home made deer jerky, there was no way I could kill a doe with 2 fawns still with it and leave them to die, so I just watched them. The trail that they were following went right in front of me. Amazingly they never saw me or smelled me! One fawn was so close to me, I could have touched it with the end of my gun. As much as I wanted to reach out and pet it, I resisted and sat motionless, just incase anything else should come by. As the 3 deer trotted off, I knew that just seeing them so close was worth the trip. Although I didn’t kill anything, thats not what hunting is all about, hunting is about enjoying the outdoors and soaking in the experience.
Halloween Party Weekend!
October 29, 2007
This was an awesome week.
Tuesday: To kick things off, I worked at the dedication ceremony for Northeast Alabama Community College’s new Health Education Building. Check out this awesome suit I had to wear there. What tops it all is that I got it for free under the presidential host scholarship. I gave some tours and got to meet some high level people, buisness leaders, ect. Pretty fun but I was feeling the pain on wednesday when I had my clinical this week.

Friday: The presidentail hosts threw a halloween costume party which was awesome. Sorry I don’t have the pic’s yet. I went as a rapper… which everyone agreed I enjoyed a little to much. I ended up winning most original costume in the costume judging contest. Some of the faculty was there and it was fun seeing them dressed up as well. There was great food and music so everyone had a good time. I was forced to scale a tree to hang a pinata…. a feat that everyone was amazed by, but this is Alabama so it’s ok to be able to climb a tree like a spider monkey.
Saturday: I got to hang out with Kim as usual and relaxed after staying up until 1:30am. Staying up late really drained me.
I will try to get the pictures up as soon as I can so yall can check out what I would look like if I “was straight from the hood.” Remember, if you have any questions about northeast, e-mail me at Zach@nacc.edu Thats it for this week -Z Drak Out
Weekend Hunt
October 23, 2007
This past week was pretty good overall.
As usual I met my GF at Northeast Alabama Community College and we got to hang out on Friday and Saturday.
Friday we went fishing and caught a few bluegill off of the boat ramp near my house and let the legenary Joshua play with the catch and throw them back in the water…. or straight down onto the dock…. depending on the fish’s luck.
Sunday was the real fun though. I had planned this hunting adventure with my highly trained hunting dog… Check it
Rabbit Down! Haha, I would never put pictures of dead or wounded animals on here! Still… that little dog looks deadly doesn’t she? I decided not to really go hunting after realizing that I hadn’t had adequate time to practice shooting and I never want to do anything that I am not 100% prepared for.
Most of the day was spent preparing songs for the NACC Presidential Host Halloween Party next Friday! Northeast is going on the map as a party school! I am going to be dressing up as a rapper….. Voted to go as one because of my hate of 90% of today’s rap music…. It will be interesting. Be sure to tune in next week to some crazy pictures of the party!

Farm Fishing Fiasco
October 14, 2007
This week was jam packed! by this week I meen Oct. 8-14th
I have a bunch of cool pictures to check out from this weeks adventures. I had another clinical for the Northeast Alabama Community College Nursing Program Wednesday that wore me out but luckily I was well rested for my visit to Kim’s house on friday. We planned on catching some fish but, after only a few seconds we quickly became frustrated because Kim wore her pretty shoes that she didn’t wan’t to get dirty…. why wear nice clothes fishing…. girls… o’well. Anyways I was in luck because she lives on a farm and a calf was out in the pasture were we were fishing and I talked her into taking a picture with the cow, though that little calf had other plans. I circled up to in in a non-threatening manner but, it wouldn’t let me get really close to it so sorry if the picture is blurry. Some lambs were also recently born so I went over to the sheep pen and took a snapshot of one though there was no way I was getting in there with them because they looked angry… it would be embarassing to get mauled by a sheep… I couldn’t live with myself if I got killed by one… : P

Saturday I celebrated Kims birthday a little early and gave her the presents and cake that I got her, and dispite her screaming otherwise… I sang her happy birthday as her face got increasingly red. It’s ok though, I am sure she will find some way to get me back. To relaxe a little, I took Josh fishing but he lost interest after only one fish. Didn’t matter to me though, I just wanted him to have fun and I had to have my one fish because I couldn’t bear the agony of getting skunked again. ( skunked is not catching any fish in the fishermanish language) The fish I caugh was incredibly huge but somehow I think the camera took off a good 4-5lbs…..

Anyways, on Sunday my immune system was some how infiltrated and I now have some kind of harsh cold or mild flu… thank you winter! Tune in next week for my Tree Rat Hunting Experience and see what I shoot. -Z Drak out
Early October
October 8, 2007
Ok, here is up to October 7th.
Clinicals last week weren’t bad, can’t really say much about
them but it was awesome to finnally be able to put what I have learned to the test. Thats me in the nursing uniform, they give us white outfits to try to make us stand out as much as possible i guess…. Besides that it was a dull week.
This week though was pretty exciting, the NACC Presidential Hosts started planning a Halloween party so that is something fun to look forward to. Kim and Josh came over to
Doesn’t he look hungry? Guess he likes oranges. Next time I am going to try to get more than my hand in the pic. This comming week I am going fishing and hopefully get some good fish pictures. So tune it next week to see me battle the Ferocious Feline Fish!(Cat fish of course) ——Z Drak Out!
Adventures at the Jackson Co. Fair
October 1, 2007
Great week! Sept. 17-24
Lots of Stuff went on this week. Here are the highlights:
David Baldacci book signing- Was awesome. I went there as part of the presidential host service hour
requirements but still had a great time. We had computer problems, I tried to fix it but my caveman bashing technique did not prove very effective. Here is a pic. of me and another presidential host just goofing off.(if anyone asks I was working hard the entire time
)
Jackson Co. Fair- Pretty fun, just handed out all kinds of free stuff. Most people just wanted to get their hair beautified by the Northeast Cosmotology Department so it was fun getting to see reactions. One of my fellow hosts let them do his hair sparkly and in little pony tails but somehow I managed to resist the temptation of makeup and sparkly hair.
Then just got to hang out with Kim on the weekend as usual.
But thats all of the exciting stuff for this week. Tune in next week to see if our hero survives the dreaded First Clinical!!!!! Z Drak Out.

Hey!
My name is Zach and for the next 6 month’s I am going to be taking you into my life and letting you see what college is like here at Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC from now on). Before I can do that though, I need to give you some background info. so maybe you can understand a little bit more about me. I am 18 years old and am currently enrolled in the Nursing Program at NACC. I graduated from Scottsboro High School where I was part of the 2x State Championship Wrestling Team, I personally placed 3rd at 119 lbs and 4th at 130 lbs. My hobbies include hunting, fishing, swimming, and I also enjoy watching movies whenever I can get a break from school work. I am currently dating Kim. We actually met in the student center at NACC one day, if you want to meet cool ppl …. I would reccomend trying there first. Got any questions? E-mail me at Zach@nacc.edu its that simple. But, thats enough of the background info. now I can get into week #1
Sept:9-16 I started the week stressed out! First rounds of were coming up, but it turned out that they weren’t anything to worry about.
Highlights: Wednesday I got a suprise visit from Kim! She is going to Snead now so time together is hard to come by. Anyways we watched a movie and let little Josh (her 16 mo. old boy well… I claim him when he does my happy dance but we don’t even need to get into my dancing skills right now…. or lack of them) -play on my recently covered pool. He is light enough to run across it but there is a constant puddle around his feet to splash around in. It was funny watching him lay down and blow bubbles while dragging around a diaper that weighs more than he does. That was our entertainment for the day.
I also got to go to ol’ Wally World to watch my Dad’s BFL weigh in. If you are not familiar with it, the BFL is a bass fishing tournament series. Anyways, He got 23rd out of 140+ people and got to be on stage so I came to give him some support and cheer loudly in the way that I thought would cause the most embarrassment. All in good sport of course…. I know he would do the same for me.
Thats it for week#1 Tune in next week to see the “Adventures at Jackson Co Fair.” – Z Drak out
